Boy on the Porch

Dutchman’s Pipe vine covers the porch and blocks the door. Neighbors complain, “Cut the vine. We can’t see in!” And the homeowner replies, “No, but I can see out.”

    I remember that day well, Matt. Mid Hale was too shy to let me photo her. You did a great job filling in for her. It’s one of my all-time favorite photos. (jack)

    when my sister first moved to islesboro, she rented that house for many years. we used to sit on that porch and watch the island life walk by as our kids were growing up. so many very fond memories of that place, and i’ve always loved that picture of matt on the stairs. i have the same pic with my kids….only not as beautiful as this!!
